Questions you may be asking yourself:
Q: I submitted a badge application. What happens next?
A: omi Scouts meetings happen once a month. David, Sarah and omi will review all applications and accept or reject them. We'll send out notification emails the next day.
If your application is accepted, a pdf of your badge will be attached to the email. Print, cut and stick the badge into your scouts manual. If your application is rejected, we'll let you know why we didn't think you fully completed the task.
Q: I was awarded a badge at the AGM but my name isn't on the Hall of Awesome. What gives?
A: I need your member name to post (in case you don't want you actual name). Also, I was a little drunk that night and don't remember all the badges I gave out. So fill out an application form so you'll be an actual member. Then in the details spot, write down all the badges that you got awarded.
Q: I want badges to pin to my sash! How does that work?
A: To get a badges mailed to you, you must sign up to be a Golden omi Scout. The cost is $20 CAD and goes towards covering shipping costs. The badges are 2 1/4 and 1 1/4 pins. Please note, we'll only ship to Canada and USA. Badges will be mailed out 1-3 business days after the scout meeting.
Q: What's a member name?
A: This is the name that will be used on the omi Scouts Hall of Awesome. It can be your actual name or a nickname. If your nickname is completely disgusting, we might reject it. If your actual name is completely disgusting then we feel sorry for you but we still might reject it.
Q: Why the hell should I give you money?!
A: You totally don’t have to! oMi Scouts is free! You can earn badges without paying a penny.
Q: Okay, but I’m thinking maybe I will give you money, why should I?
A: You can get buttons mailed to you! The cost is mainly to cover postage costs.
Q: Why are you doing it this way?
A: I really like giving away buttons but it costs a lot of money to mail them to people. Charging people just for postage doesn’t really work because credit cards and paypal have a ‘per transaction fee’ that eats up most of the payment. So I figure a membership donation is the way to go.
Q: Do I have to KEEP paying you?
A: Your membership will last for one year.
Q: How long will it take to get my buttons?
A: We'll mail them out 1-3 business days after the scout meeting. Then...I don’t know...however long the postman says? 1-2 weeks?
Q: I'm an omi Scout who has earned badges. If I become a Golden omi Scout, will you mail me the buttons I earned before I became a Golden omi Scout?
A: You betcha. When you become a Golden omi Scout, we'll email you a list of all the badges you've already earned. Email us back to confirm that list and we'll mail you the buttons.
Q: I live far away? Can I join?
A: Buttons and stickers will only be mailed to people in Canada and the US. This is because it’s expensive to mail things.
Q: It's been a while and my buttons haven't come. What up?
A: If it's been more than 3 weeks since your application was approved and you haven't got your buttons AND you're a Gold Star omi Scout, email us with what buttons you should have gotten, your address and your member number.
Q: I live super close to you. Can I pick up my buttons not pay for a membership?
A: Do I know you? I don’t open the door for strangers. So unless I’ve gotten drunk with you before, no.
Q: What sash? How do I get one?
A: Go find some nice, wide, cloth ribbon. Cut a piece long enough to wear over one shoulder. Pin the two ends together. na-naaah! Sash!
Q: How long will this last?
A: This scouts manual is good until around this time next year. If enough people enjoy it, we'll make a new manual next summer.
Q: My question isn't in this FAQ. What do I do?
A: email us! |
